First Frost Vest - Beginner Quilted Vest Pattern Sizes 4-32 - PDF Downloadable pattern

First Frost Vest - PDF Pattern

The First Frost Vest is the go-to garment for the chill of the early morning.  A great garment for walking the dog, a quick trip to the store, or a friend's house.  The oversize pockets mean you can store your keys and phone, and remain hands-free to carry other items.  Mix your outer and your lining fabrics to create cohesive and reversible looks. It's a versatile staple in your wardrobe that you will be proud to tell others that you made.

The First Frost Vest was designed with the quilter in mind.  This is a very beginner friendly pattern that takes the basics of quilt construction and applies it to garment making.  No complicated adjustments or alternations needed.  This garment can be completed over a few evenings, and you can finish the hand-stitching while watching television or hanging out with other sewists.

Fabric Suggestions:

Because this pattern was designed for quilters or beginner sewists we have made all the fabric requirements based off of 44”/45” wide fabrics, so you may choose to use quilting cotton, and do patchwork for one or both of the layers of the vest. Quilters could do their favourite quilt block or embroidery on the vest back.  Hand-stitching and embellishments would also accentuate this vest.   We also think flannel would be ideal for warmth and ease of use in this pattern.  Other fabrics you might try are: Essex Linen (a cotton and linen blend), canvas or denim.  Try and avoid slippery materials as it will only increase in frustration while quilting.
